Lutein is one of the largest groups of over 600 compounds known as carotenoid pigments. It is an efficient anti-oxidant, and is therefore able to protect cells in the human body from free radical damage. Lutein can also be used as a coloring agent, an additive, in cosmetics and baccy for its bright-colored, innocuity and high safety.
